Welcome, my friends, once again into the Asylum, where we try to make sense of this insane world we live in. Watching the President’s speech this week and seeing liberal opposition reacting with so little decorum they had to be removed from the event (here). All while watching the left unravel as more independents and moderate democrats (all conservative, if not right wing extremists, in this day and age apparently) are moving away and resonating with the policies of Trump, as seen in his approval ratings which are higher than ever for him (here). So, as many liberals have said, we need to trust the science. While you and I know that isn’t what they mean because when presented with science they tend to balk. What they mean is to trust what the Mainstream Media (MSM) tells us science is and means. This media science is immutable and cannot be challenged (unlike real science). That is until of course the MSM sends out new instructions that change the science, but then the old science never existed.
I thought it might be beneficial to look at the actual science to see if we can find out why these people are the way they are. When I say that it is because almost daily, and sometimes multiple times a day, some liberal will say something or present some justification for some policy position like castrating children, killing babies, grooming kids, or boys using women’s facilities, just to name a few items that leave me speechless. I realize this person is too insane, stupid, or deranged to bother speaking with. It turns out science can explain it, at least to a point.
Liberals are insane, or at least suffer mental illness, at significantly higher rates than other less liberal people, and the more liberal you are the more susceptible to mental health issues both occurrence and severity (here and here). Science unfortunately cannot answer the better questions this research begs to ask, however. Is liberalism the cause or symptom of the mental illness? The world may never know, but they are good questions.
Another thing that science tells us about liberals is they tend to be much less religious (I hate that word but there isn’t one better for this application). Essentially meaning liberals believe in a power greater than themselves at a much lower rate than conservative people do and their faith (regardless of religion) tends to be more flexible (here, here, and here). It turns out that religious people also have much less mental illness, better physical health, and enjoy better interpersonal relationships (here and here). Again, does being faithful tend to make one less mentally ill and better with
other people or does being less mentally ill and better at interacting with others lead one to be more faithful? Again, I don’t have an answer, but the question is interesting.
Interestingly, there is no significant cognitive ability differences between liberals and conservatives even if Academia is dominated by liberals and leftists predominately, to the point where American colleges and universities are no longer churning mills of competing thoughts and ideas but echo chambers where no diversity of thought are allowed (here, here, and here). With this we can discount stupidity as the reason some people are liberals or conservatives.
It is also interesting to note that conservatism is a predictor of better overall health, tend to be more attractive over all, and tend to be less obese than do liberals (here, here, here, and here). Conservatives also have a brighter world view than do liberals and tend to be happier over all (here). This makes me wonder if the lack of meaningful health habits is a result of the mental illness suffered from the left or their generally bleak world view?
Lastly, liberals are all about promoting compassion and championing compassionate social programs. However, their compassion seems to end at the idea of making someone else do whatever it is and fund whatever it is. People with conservative views are vastly more likely to donate their own time and money to charity projects while being much less likely to demand that other people do the same (here, here, and here).
If we are to trust the science, the next time a liberal tells you there are no biological differences between men and women, it is all just social constructs, don’t get mad or argue. Just trust the science and remember you are probably talking to a bitter, insane, unhealthy, stingy person and be compassionate. I have long thought the crux of every liberal position, from abortion to welfare, was seeking to remove personal accountability and individual agency from people. This has always felt like a hollow existence where one has no control and things just happen for no reason. Perhaps it is my faith that no matter what happens I know God is in control and that one day I will be accountable to him that motivates me and other non-liberals to live lives of service, accountability, and fulfillment. I think the same is true for most non-liberal types and is probably why we have fewer mental health issues, take better care of ourselves, and are more willing to help those in need.
Acts 20:35
35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
God bless you
