My sister’s been telling me for two months now to buy silver. She’s not a financial guru, and she does believe far too much in some of the more wacky conspiracy theories but sometimes she gets it right so I never know when to listen to her. Thoughts on silver or other precious metals?
I have been buying silver for years. I purchased gold from 1999 to 2007 unfortunately medical issues 2008-2014 caused me to have to sell the gold. Since that time gold has just been to expensive or I would buy it. However since 2016 I have essentially put any money I could afford to save into physical silver.
Also in December of 2019 and January 2020 I moved all retirement funds in my 401K and IRA to paper gold and silver (since physical wasn't an option). By paper silver/gold I mean funds that are supposed to buy and hold physical metals equal to your investment. So every unit of the silver fund is an ounce of silver they buy and the gold is 1/10th ounce of gold in the gold fund. I made over 40% in 2020 and am up almost 11% this year.
